In a tight Central Division race both the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars hit a bit of a skid coming out of the All-Star break. Both squads came into the divisional matchup needing the two points desperately with the Stars behind the eight ball after playing the day prior while the Avs had their second day in a row off.
